WE REQUIRE :

The following sections outline the specific task order requirements, performance indicators, associated standards, and quality assurance methods. Sections 3.0 and 4.0 (Incentives) work together to describe the tasks and performance measurements associated with this task order.

3.1 Task Order Description:
The contractor shall provide analytical, technical, hardware and software support services for the management of all SUN UNIX servers that comprise the NITC development and production environments including the development of standards and technical procedures.

The contractor shall provide system administration services that support the ongoing installation, configuration and maintenance of the SUN Unix servers.

Coordination of the task order requirements will be addressed by the Task Leader or designated representative and the Client Representative.

Specific tasks include:

3.1.1 Manage hardware configuration of all UNIX servers at NITC and assume responsibility for the installation, maintenance and operation of the OS for these servers. This includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

· Installation and testing of patches and hot fixes.
· Ensuring compatibility of utility and applications software with the OS.
· Ensure connectivity and interoperability between servers and clients.
· Work closely with the DBA staff and application developers to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
· Participate in the testing of system software and hardware components.

Indicator: UNIX server system administration.
Acceptance Criteria: Unix hardware configuration is consistent and effective. System administration is considered to be all activities directed towards the installation, maintenance and operation of the OS for the Unix servers which are either contractor initiated or via requests by Client Representative to contractor employees. All aspects of system administration are thorough, timely, and accurate. Any corresponding recommendations are informed, thorough, reasoned, relevant, and feasible. All associated documentation will be evaluated on timeliness, accuracy, thoroughness, professional appearance, appropriateness of content, and compliance with established standards.


3.1.2 Provide system optimization services. This includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

· Optimization and tuning of operating system, application software and hardware resources.
· System utilization statistics for management reporting.
· Capacity planning and system benchmarking.
· Participate in the planning, analysis and execution of server consolidation.

Indicator: Unix server optimization and tuning.
Acceptance Criteria: Unix server optimization, tuning and consolidation is consistent and effective. All aspects of planning and validating are thorough, timely, and accurate. Any corresponding recommendations are informed, thorough, reasoned, relevant, and feasible. All associated documentation will be evaluated on timeliness, accuracy, thoroughness, professional appearance, appropriateness of content, and compliance with established standards.


3.1.3 Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for: operating system, user data and applications and disaster recovery.

Indicator: Unix server backup and recovery.
Acceptance Criteria: Unix servers operate with agreed upon functionality. All aspects of backup and recovery are thorough, timely, and accurate. All associated documentation will be evaluated on timeliness, accuracy, thoroughness, professional appearance, appropriateness of content, and compliance with established standards.


3.1.4 Manage and support user/file management for: local accounts, file sharing/drive mappings, and file permissions/security profiles.

Indicator: Unix server user/file management.
Acceptance Criteria: Unix servers’ user accounts and files operate with agreed upon functionality. All aspects of users accounts, file sharing and security are thorough, timely, and accurate. All associated documentation will be evaluated on timeliness, accuracy, thoroughness, professional appearance, appropriateness of content, and compliance with established standards.


3.1.5 Ensure in-house personnel are trained in all aspects of the UNIX server configuration and operations. Provide and maintain documentation consisting of system configuration details.

Indicator: Training
Acceptance Criteria: 100 percent of all trainees performing at required level of job competency on the UNIX server configuration and operations. Training is accurate, consistent, thorough, in compliance with established standards, and appropriate to topic. All associated documentation will be evaluated on timeliness, accuracy, thoroughness, professional appearance, appropriateness of content, and compliance with established standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

The systemm administartor will provide configuration, selection, installation and maintenance support of all SUN Unix hardware in support of NAVFAC’s enterprise applications. This includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
· Development of preventative maintenance plan.
· Administration of accompanying warranties.
· Coordination of systems maintenance and technical support.
· Maintenance of Unix hardware and software inventory.
